My teacher thinks this poem is really good. Little does she know I started writing it an hour before it was due. Either I’m naturally good at poetry or poetry is just a joke.
Moon to Dove
By Vickie Chaimanont
I see you in the shadows of my dark sky.
Your big black eyes glisten at me.
The paint runs and you scream tears.
Tears of loneliness, tears of comfort.
You erect your tail to count your eggs.
one two
Safe in the dark of the sky.
Safe in the shadow of your wing.
Your beak points out.
Your head held straight.
Your chest is high.
In a secure nest, you await motherhood.
My stars shine around you,
Protecting you and your eggs.
But do not worry,
I am still watching, waiting,
In the corner looking over you.
